Betty Maude (Underwood) Boyer, 87 of Berlin, died June 28, 2015 at home. Born Sept. 23, 1927 in Matthews, Mo., daughter of Archibald Rhea and Maude Mae (Mayo) Underwood. Preceded in death by parents, husband of 61 years Earl E., and brother Archie Underwood. Survived by daughter, Mary Ann Boyer, Kettering, Oh.; nephews, Donald Blough and Douglas Underwood; nieces, Tracy Wohl and Betty Kaufman; and several other nieces and nephews. A 1944 graduate of Brazil, Indiana High School and a 1948 graduate of Clarion State Teachers College. She came to Berlin in 1948 as a school librarian and retired in 1982. Member of the Order of Eastern Star and Berlin American Legion Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed playing bridge and she was a Silver Life Master who taught bridge to many. She loved traveling to Las Vegas to play Keno. She loved football and running local pools. She enjoyed knitting her dishcloths while watching the Game Show Network. Family will receive friends from Noon until service at 2 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Rev. Ralph Landis officiating. Interment Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
