Charles E. “Moonie” Gindlesperger, 78, Hooversville, died Apr. 20, 2018 at The Memorial Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit. Born Jan. 12, 1940 in Johnstown, son of Charles L. and Clarabelle (Shroyer) Gindlesperger. Preceded in death by parents; grandson Gabriel Gindlesperger, and sisters Viola Yoder and Shirley Rosey. Survived by wife of 48 years Dorothy; children: Melissa (Ken) Holbrook, Cairnbrook, Lynnette (Mark) Kline, Central City; Jessica (fiancé Ron Miller) Gindlesperger, Windber, Charles D. (Danielle Harris) Gindlesperger, Hooversville, Abigayle Gindlesperger, Hooversville, Tom Smith, Greensburg, and Daniel Hadix, Hooversville; grandchildren: Mark, Rian, Nathaniel, and Caleb Kline, Tyler Kostick, Kya, Ellie, and Evie Gindlesperger, Travis and Melanie Holbrook, and Marykay and Jessalyn Smith; great granddaughter McKenzie Weaver; his German Shorthair Pointer, Morgan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was a 1958 graduate of Forbes High School. Former long haul truck driver for Paul Thomas and Mason Dixon, and a former heavy equipment operator for Berwind and Leslie Whitaker. Moonie was well known for his chicken BBQ. He volunteered his time to do BBQ’s for the Boy Scouts, 4-H Club, Camp Harmony, and his church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His love of the outdoors began when he was young and was invited up north to Potter County by Percy Miller. Bear camp was an annual event he loved going to with his dear friends Mike, Stacy, Dave, and the gang. Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Brian Simmons and Chris Fuska officiating.
