Claudine V. (Shroyer) Coughenour

Claudine V. Coughenour, 89, Berlin, died Jan. 29, 2018 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born Mar. 6, 1928 in Hyndman, daughter of John and Emma (Glass) Shroyer. Preceded in death by parents, husband Paul, sisters: Dorothy Eckard and Elizabeth Sullivan, and brother-in-law Ed Sullivan. Survived by children: John (Susan) Coughenour, Leanna Coughenour, both of Berlin, and James (Tammy) Coughenour, Friedens; foster daughter Barbara (James Jr.) Sarver; grandchildren: Jeremy (Mary Jo), Lonnie (Jessica), Kelli Jo, Bradley, James (Janel), and Christy Coughenour and fiance Brad McCarty, Kim (Richard) Lloyd, Brad (Erin) Custer, Brett Sarver and fiancée Crystal Snyder, Amanda Sarver and friend Mark Hutzel, James (Suzanne) Sarver III, and Michael (Cerra) Coddington; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and brothers and-sisters-in-law: Robert and Roberta Coughenour, Albert Eckard, and Lillian Coughenour. She was a 1946 graduate of Hyndman High School, and a nurse’s aide at the Somerset County Home for 18 years. Member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin, and Berlin Area Historical Society. She enjoyed reading, listening to country music, and spending time with her grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 600 Main St., Berlin, PA 15530. Rev. Dr. David A. Williams officiating. Inurnment Hyndman Cemetery.
