Fred Leroy Baer

Fred Leroy Baer, 82, Friedens, died June 19, 2015 at Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Born November 14, 1932 in Friedens, son of Harvey and Grace (Hiteshew) Baer.

            Preceded in death by parents, brothers: Jacob and Harvey G. Baer, and sisters: Ruth Mort and Maud Hafer.

            Survived by his wife of 52 years the former Myrna Bassett;

sons: David married to the former Pamela Long, Harrisburg, James married to the former Deneen Conn, Friedens, and Scott married to the former Sharron Gordon, Friedens;

granddaughters: Kelli (Anthony) Holloway and Kristin (Randy) Foltz;

and great grandchildren: Emma and Alex Holloway and Brianna Foltz.

            He was a 1950 graduate of Somerset Township High School. Owner and operator of Baer’s Electronics and known by many as the Radioman. He also helped on the family farm.

Member of Geiger Church of the Brethren where he was longtime treasurer, deacon, and Sunday school teacher.

            Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Geiger Church of the Brethren. Also viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Pastors John and Linda Stoner officiating. Interment Baer Cemetery. Instead of flowers contributions may be given to Geiger Church of the Brethren, 185 Culligan Rd., Friedens, PA 15541. Arrangements entrusted to Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown.
