James R. Engleka, 79, Berlin, died June 25, 2015 at Somerset Hospital. Born Jan. 9, 1936 in Berlin, son of Elwood and Mary (Imhoff) Engleka. Preceded in death by parents; wife the former Wanda Woida; and an infant brother. Survived by children: David married to the former Michelle Landis, Berlin, and Beth Ann Morgan and husband Eric, Rockwood; grandchildren: Sarah Gerber, and Derek Engleka and friend Bethany Will; great grandson: Braden Gerber; mother-in-law: Edna Woida, Berlin; and sister and brother-in-law: Thelma and Ray Boyer, Fairhope. He was a 1954 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and a U.S. Army veteran. Retired maintenance supervisor at the former Maple Mountain Manor. Member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Glen Savage. Life member of Berlin Fire Dept., Berlin Ambulance, American Legion Post 445, and V.F.W. Post 7295. Member of Korean War Veterans Assoc., N.R.A., Mountain Field and Stream Club, and Somerset Old Timer’s Baseball. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and watching the Steelers and the Pirates. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Paul Yanke officiating. Interment Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Graveside military rites by Berlin Veterans Home. Fire Dept. service will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday.
