Paul James Ott, 88, of Stoystown went to be with his Lord on November 22, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born April 4, 1927 in Hooversville, the son of the late Clarence and Stella (Buchanan) Ott of Wilbur. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dean and Ray Ott; sister, Mary Louise (Ott) Clawson; and father- and mother-in-law, Ray and Leola Dinning. He is survived by his wife, the former Maxine Dinning, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage on November 14, 2015. Paul leaves an incomparable legacy of unconditional love, compassion, hard work, humility and devotion to his 8 children: Greg and wife, Karen (Baltzer) Ott, Palmyra; Rick and wife, Yvonne (Pelesky) Ott, Boswell; Vicky and husband, Mike Stackhouse, Richland; Patty and husband, Rick Pyle, Stoystown; Brad and wife, Lorraine (Geiyer) Ott, Gray; Mike Ott, Stoystown; Missy and husband, Mike Zborovancik, Stoystown and Alyson and husband, Jason Kaminsky, Richland; his 18 grandchildren: Chad and Brent Ott, Karen Kozlosky, Corrie Sager, Derek Ott, Matt and Tim Lohr, Kate Turner, Jill Cirelli, Bethany Smithmyer, Bradon Pyle, Kirsten Zimmerman, Kelsey Duray, Tyler and Bryan Zborovancik and Cameron, Sadie, and Ethan Kaminsky; and his 17 great-grandchildren. Paul attended Shade High School. In 1945, he was inducted into the Army where he served as a World War II Staff Sergeant in Milan, Italy. He retired from Intercarbon Coal Co. as a Superintendent. He was a former Boro Councilman, a member of The Kantner United Methodist Church, The Stoystown American Legion, and The Stoyestown Historical Society. Paul was well-known in the community for his magical display of Christmas lights at his home each year, but he had many gifts and talents for which he earned respect. Viewing will be held at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m, where a Legion service will be held at 7 p.m. Viewing from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at 11 a.m. at Kantner United Methodist Church. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. Graveside Military Honors provided by the Somerset County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Paul’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38148-0142 in his memory.
