Pearl "E.P." (Hinton) Black

Pearl “E.P.” Black, 96, Berlin, died Dec. 26, 2017 at Somerset Hospital. Born Sept. 3, 1921 in Claysburg, daughter of Carl L. and Ruth (Smith) Hinton. Preceded in death by parents; husband Buhl Arthur Black, and sister Margaret Rininger. Survived by sons: Donald and wife Marie, St. Charles, MO., Joseph and wife Gloria, Shanksville, Garen and wife Bobbie, Goose Creek, SC, James and wife Jane, and Brian and wife Teresa, both of Berlin; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and sisters: LaFerne Wright and Kathleen Beegle. She was a 1942 graduate of the Bedford Nursing Training School. Former Director of Nursing at the former Maple Mountain Manor. Member of Berlin Alliance Church where she served on the board for over 30 years. She enjoyed embroidery, reading her bible, and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Donald Krestar officiating.
