Robert H. Cogan, 98, formerly of Meyersdale, died March 20, 2017 at The Patriot. Born in 1918, son of William and Sara Olive (Dennison) Cogan. Preceded in death by parents, his wife of 43 years the former Harriet Emma Barnhart who died August 10, 1983, sons: William, James, and infant son Robert, brothers: Jack, Jim, Ken, and Rawley, and sisters: Louise, Jean, and Dorothy. Survived by son Larry married to the former Rev. Nila Shaffer; daughter-in-law Gloria (Llewellyn) Cogan; grandchildren: Rebecca and Joseph Sensor, Anna and Alan Hope, Robert and Chelsea (Dunham) Cogan, and Izzi (Elizabeth) and Ryan Shaffer; great grandchildren: Maxwell, Madeline and Molly Sensor, Persephone Hope, and Jonah and Ruby Shaffer; and sister Selma McCann. He grew up in the Latrobe area and was a lifelong farmer and construction worker. Member of New Hope U.C.C., serving on the consistory many times, and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Former Larimer Township Supervisor, and former member of the Meyersdale Area School Board serving for 27 consecutive years. Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Jay Shaffer officiating.
