Robert Eugene Darr

Robert Eugene Darr, 78, Stoystown, went to be with the Lord Feb. 4, 2016 at Somerset Hospital. Born July 7, 1937 in Somerset Twp., son of Fred and Gladys (Knepper) Darr.

Preceded in death by parents, daughter Robin Blair, grandsons Dylan and Trevor Miller, sons in-law Bob Blair and Jeff Miller, brother Fred, and brothers in-law Robert Musser and Dr. Donald Lowry.

Survived by his wife of 56 years the former Mary Eileen Griffith; children: Rodney and friend Eileen Zimmerman, and Mandy Miller, all of Stoystown; grandchildren: Bryan (Alyssa), Andrew (Brittany), Stephen, Matthew, and Kaitlin Darr, Jessica (Chad) Cramer, Brock Blair, and Taylor Miller; great grandchildren: Kylee Cramer and Malakye Darr; brother Wayne (Ann) Darr, Berlin; sisters: Lois Lowry, Mechanicsburg, Phyllis Musser, Stoystown, and Barbara (Dan) Manges, Confluence; sister in-law Lois Darr, Somerset; and granddog Ruby.

He was a 1955 graduate of Forbes High School and retired owner/operator of Darr Milk Transport. He also drove school van to Johnstown Christian School for several years. Attended St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Stoystown. Member and longtime financial secretary of Stoystown Lions Club where he was a Melvin Jones Fellow, and member of Stoyestown Area Historical Society. He was a former Forbes and North Star School Board member and served on Stoystown Borough Council for many years.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown where at Lions service will be held at 6 p.m. Viewing from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul’s U.C.C., Stoystown.
