Ted K. Encke M.D.

Ted K. Encke M.D., 76, Fairhope formerly of Pittsburgh, died July 27, 2015 at home. Born Dec. 21, 1938 in Norwalk, Conn., son of the late Herman and Doris (Biesel) Encke. Survived by his wife of 37 years, the former Susan Chaklos.  He was a 1960 graduate of Moravian College and received his M.D. from the Temple University School of Medicine in 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Flight Medical Officer from 1965 to 1967, serving two tours in Vietnam with numerous awards and decorations. He also served in U.S.A.F. Reserve 911th Airlift Wing, Pittsburgh from 1968-1973. He was a retired orthopedic surgeon practicing 30 years in the Pittsburgh Area. Member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and the Safari Club International. He enjoyed hunting, horses and building his home in the Allegheny Mountains of Somerset County. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lanigan Funeral Home, Turtle Creek where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Interment Monongahela Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
