Verna (Gregar) Barron, 86, Somerset, died April 8, 2016 in Richland Twp. Born Dec. 18, 1929 in Quecreek, daughter of the late Helen Gregar who died in 1930. Also preceded in death by husband Richard J. Barron on Feb. 22, 2014; infant son Richard Jr.; grandson Michael Ohler on Feb. 9, 2016; grandparents John and Elizabeth Gregar; uncles John and Mike Gregar; and aunt Ann Gregar. Survived by children: Amy (Greg) Will, and Jane (David) Pugh, both of Somerset; grandchildren: Jennifer Ohler, Megan (Ben) Flower, and Christina Will and fiancé Michael Bittner; and great grandchildren Jack Loeffert and Arianna Ohler. She was a 1947 graduate of Somerset High School. She was the secretary to the Somerset County Superintendant of Schools, the County School Board, and also worked as a freelance court reporter for 25 years. She also worked for Walker Farm Service. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church. She was devoted to her church and her family, who loved her dearly. Verna loved needlework and watching the Penguins and Pirates on TV. Her retirement hobby was making quilts for Lutheran World Relief and doing puzzles. Family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Friedens Lutheran Church, where service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Edward V. DeVore officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Friedens Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, 131 S. Main St., Friedens, PA 15541.
