Edith G. Hoffman, 97, Berlin, died June 18, 2019 at Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Born March 24, 1922 in Friedens, daughter of Willard and Edna (Rhoads) Lease. Preceded in death by parents, step mother Miriam (Peck) Lease, husband Floyd, grandson Mark Hoffman, sisters Elaine Pyle and Arlene Cassidy, brother Elvin Lease, and son-in-law James Scurfield. Survived by children: Jane Scurfield, and John Hoffman, both of Berlin; grandchildren: Scott (Melissa) and Rick (Michelle) Scurfield, Sue (Greg) Walker, and Matthew (Jodi) Hoffman; great grandchildren: Alec, Vaughn, Nicolas, Dominic, and Juliana Scurfield, and Tanner and Keegan Walker; and great great grandson Jaxen Scurfield. She was a 1940 graduate of Somerset Twp. High School. Former Switchboard Operator in Somerset, and worked at Highland Gardens Florists, Berlin, Keidel Hardware, Berlin, Berlin True Value, and helped on the family farm. Member of Berlin Brethren Church, where she served as Deaconess. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and gardening. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Friday at Berlin Brethren Church. Rev. Tom Sprowls officiating. Interment Brotherton Pike Cemetery.
