Elsie V. Benning, 87, Windber, died Dec. 8, 2018 at home. Born Jan. 25, 1931 in Gravel Pit, Bedford County, daughter of Alvin and Amy (Twigg) Chaney. Preceded in death by parents, husband Ralph R., son Thomas, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters. Survived by daughters Carolyn Halle, Somerset and Nancy Watkins, Windber, granddaughters Lisa Schmidt, Tammy Halle, and Amy (Earl) Durst, great granddaughter Rose Grimm whom she raised, 9 other great grandchildren, and Judy (Harold) Nicholson, Berlin, who was raised as her sister, sister-in-law Ellen Benning, and brother-in-law Kenneth Benning, Sr., both of Fairhope. She loved to color and was very artistic. She enjoyed listening to music. There will be no viewing or service at Elsie’s request. Arrangements entrusted to Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin.
