Frank E. Roman

Frank E. Roman, 88, of Wilbur, passed away, surrounded by family, on Oct. 20th, 2017 at the Windber Hospice Center. Frank was a lifelong resident of Wilbur and a graduate of Shade-Central City High School. He retired from the PA State Dept. of General Services at the Somerset State Hospital where he served as Head of Maintenance. He was known by many for his quick wit, great sense of humor, dedication to his family, love of hunting, gardening, and being a handyman that could fix anything. One of his favorite activities was taking truck rides with his son-in-law Danny looking for deer and turkey. Member of the Quemahoning Rod and Gun Club, N.R.A. and Hooversville V.F.W. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Olga (Szapka); sister Margaret Postoski of Hooversville; daughters Wanda Ross of Wilbur and Francine Walker of Hershey, respective sons-in-law Daniel Ross and Kevin Walker; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Ross) and husband Walter Disante, Dan Ross and wife Sarah (Barrett), Michelle (Ross) and husband Gabe Sprenger, Matt Ross and wife Dominique (Stasko), Ryan and Justin Walker; seven great grandchildren: Ava and Vince Disante, Saffron and Ruby Barrett-Ross, Ruth and Leah Sprenger, and Braden Ross. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Punklich) Roman; brothers Andy, Joe, John and sister Mary; and step sisters Lizzie and Julie. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville. Viewing from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Monday at Otterbein U.M. Church.
