James Arthur Ash

James Arthur Ash, 89, Stoystown, died March 12, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Nov. 8, 1929 in Garrett, son of Silas and Nellie (Smith) Ash. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Anna Berkley, son Bertrim, sisters: Anna Emerick, Eva Angelo, Naomi Weaver, Elenore Romesberg, and Dorothy Hartman, and brothers Eugene, William, and Charles Ash. Survived by sons: James, and Lewis married to the former Ellen Lantz, both of Stoystown, and Silas married to the former Judy Spory, Hollsopple; daughter-in-law Sherry (Shaffer) Ash, Somerset; grandchildren: Ashley, Lewis Jr., Suzanna, and Angela; and 4 great grandchildren. He was a Korean War Air Force Veteran and retired from PBS Coals. Member of Kantner Assembly of God, Stoystown American Legion, and Schellsburg V.F.W. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown where service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Caleb Shaffer officiating.
