John Kolesko Obituary

John Joseph Kolesko, 73, Bolton, CT, native of Hooversville, PA died June 13, 2018 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born May 6, 1945 in Johnstown, PA, son of John A. and Mary (Kutchman) Kolesko. Preceded in death by parents and brother-in-law Ed Sicheri. Survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Connie Sicheri; daughter Justine Kolesko married to Matthew Groebner, Arvada, CO; grandson Nathaniel Groebner who he was especially proud of; sister Patricia married to Daniel Hydock, Johnstown, PA; nieces: Danielle (Jerry) Vasilko and Dr. Nicole (Eric) Hoenicke; great nieces: Dayna and Haley Vasilko and Jocelyn Hoenicke; mother-in-law Ruth Sicheri; sister-in-law Joanna Sicheri; and nieces Megan, Chelsea, and Abby Sicheri. Graduate of Forbes High School in 1963, West Virginia University in 1968, and Masters Degree from University of Connecticut. John was a technology education teacher in the Vernon, CT public schools (Sykes and VCMS) from 1969 until his retirement in 2004. He had taught Industrial Arts for one year in Boswell. He worked for Advanced Kitchens in Ellington, CT after his retirement from Vernon. John had a very unique sense of humor and was an avid bicyclist, hiker, boater, and hunter. He was a Ford car enthusiast and a fan of NASCAR. He was a talented woodworker. He was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, Bolton. John was a member of Hooversville Game Protective Association and Rockville Fish and Game Club, where he had a passion for the shooting sports. He spent much time doing workouts at Big Sky Fitness, formerly Courthouse. He was also a fan of UConn Women’s Basketball with prodding from his wife. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the DeQuattro Cancer Center in Manchester, CT and Dana Farber in Boston, MA. Also a special thank you to the ECHN Visiting Nurse and Health Services of CT. for their care. The family would like to thank all the friends who offered endless support and to the “angels” that were always there. John’s breakfast and lunch “buddies” kept him going over the course of his illness. Happy Trails John.
