John Raymond "Ray" Schmucker

John Raymond “Ray” Schmucker, 91, Jerome, formerly of Somerset and Stoystown, died Feb. 12, 2018 at Country Manor Living, Jerome. Born Oct. 21, 1926 in Latrobe, son of Frank A. and Rose (Nessler) Schmucker. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 64 years the former Dona Lee Marshall, great granddaughter Sophia Kate Schmucker, and brother Frank. Survived by six children: Pamela A. married to Andrew M. Shubik, Stoystown, Patrice R. married to Patrick A. Wilson, Frederick, MD, Mark A. married to the former Marilyn A. Johns, Sachse, TX, John M. married to the former Dawn A. Drexler, Whitsett, NC, Scott W. married to the former Corleen E. Sanner, Rockwood, and Susan L. married to Wayne P. Staudt, Coatesville; former daughter-in-law Lori Kiser; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was a 1944 graduate of Shade Central City High School and a graduate of Cambria Rowe Business School. He was a World War II and Korean War U.S. Navy veteran. Former longtime owner/operator of Emerald Park. Member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Stoystown American Legion Post 257, and Somerset VFW. He enjoyed ping pong, bowling, golf, going to Florida with his wife, and spending time with his family and friends. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. Viewing from 9 a.m. until Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Rev.
