John Tataleba, 90, Berlin, died Nov. 26, 2019 at UPMC Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Born Oct. 1, 1929 in Brothersvalley Twp., son of Charles and Anna (Slifco) Tataleba. Preceded in death by parents, brothers: Charles, George, and James Tataleba; and sisters: Mary Deiter and Helen Crabtree. Survived by his wife of 66 years the former Shirley Vought; children: Gail married to Dwight Smith, Glencoe, Gary married to the former Rhonda Palmes, Berlin, and Gwen married to John Hartman, Garrett; grandchildren: Deidra (Chad) Cornett, Kelsie (Alex) Mazanowski, Ashlyn Tataleba, Ashley (Matthew) Ivill, and Evan Hartman and fiancée Alexa Edenburg; several step grandchildren; and great grandson Levi Cornett. He was a 1948 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School, and a Korean War Marine Corps. Veteran, having received the Purple Heart. Former employee of Cooper Jarrett Trucking, Penn Pocahontas Coal, and PBS Coals. Member of Berlin Brethren Church, but attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Glen Savage. Member of Berlin American Legion and V.F.W. and the D.A.V. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Paul Yanke and Rev. Tom Sprowls officiating.
