Mary Ellen (Pierre) Zubek

Mary Ellen Zubek, 81, Central City, died April 14, 2019 at Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Born May 21, 1937 in Windber, daughter of James Anthony and Mary Ann “Polly” (Ohler) Pierre. Preceded in death by parents; sisters Elise Dembensky and Marjorie Brzana; and brother Jim Pierre. Survived by her husband of 45 years Stanley R. Zubek; son Scott R. Zubek, Wellsboro; brothers: George and Richard Pierre, both of Windber; sisters Kathleen Depolo, Zelienople and Barbara Edwards, Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews, She was a graduate of Windber High School and Cambria Rowe Business College. She was a former employee of Windber Hospital. Member of St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church, Windber. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, cooking, and doing word puzzles.Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
