Michael Dean Gerhardt

Michael Dean Gerhardt, 55, Severn, MD, died Nov. 16, 2019 at UPMC Somerset. Born Sept. 6, 1964 in Meyersdale, son of George Gerhardt of Friedens and the late Ona Marie (Caton) Gerhardt. Preceded in death by his mother, brother-in-law Edward Berkebile, and mother-in-law Ruth Ann (Shaver) Speicher. Also survived by his wife of 29 years, the former Brenda Speicher, children Logan Thomas Gerhardt and Megan Elizabeth Gerhardt, sister Lisa Berkebile, Friedens, brother Christopher (Joanna) Gerhardt, Severn, MD, nephews: Benjamin, Douglas (Lindsey), and Colten Berkebile, and Carter and Cary Gerhardt, great niece Jenna Ann Berkebile, and father-in-law Mark E. Speicher, Friedens. He was a 1982 graduate of Somerset High School, a 1987 graduate of WVU with a B.S. in Computer Science, and he received his Master’s in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. He was employed by the Dept. of Defense in Ft. Meade, MD for 31 ½ years. Member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Odenton, MD. He enjoyed the outdoors and playing cards and games with his family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Friedens Lutheran Church.
