Robert Gene Carpenter

Robert Gene Carpenter, 74, Friedens, died Aug. 23, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Born Apr. 27, 1944 in Jenner Cross Roads, son of Gerald H. and Josephine I. (Gowarty) Carpenter. Preceded in death by parents, beloved sister Linda (Carpenter) McVicker, and nephew Ryann McVicker. Survived by his wife of 47 years the former LaRue Telenko; children Lynette (Robert) Hall, Olney, MD, and Deanna (Dwayne) Wiedner, Friedens; grandchildren: Austin Hall, Abigail Wiedner (Gene Gardner), and Allison Wiedner; brothers: Gerald (Betty) Carpenter, Friedens, and Gary (Theresa) Carpenter, Stoystown; brothers-in-law Neil “Chip” McVicker, Stoystown, and Daniel Telenko, Walkersville, MD; and several nieces and nephews. He was a Vietnam War Army Veteran and a former partner in Somerset Well Drilling. Lifetime member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed mowing, gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching sports with LaRue. Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Friedens Lutheran Church and 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Monday at Friedens Lutheran Church. Rev. Douglas Knupp officiating.
