William James Peterman, Jr., 92, of Somerset formerly of Friedens, died Jan. 14, 2019 at The Patriot. Born Feb. 9, 1926 in Stoystown, son of William J. Sr. and Violet (Hipple) Peterman. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Blanche LaVerne Sturtz, son Timothy, sister Betty Hoggard, and grandson Tanner. Survived by children Billie Jean, Terry married to the former Sherry Wildenmann, and Thomas married to the former Amy Rhodamer, all of Friedens; grandchildren: Jamie, Jody, Abby, Tyler, Jesse, and Lindsey; great grandchildren: Karina and Brooklyn; and sisters: Judy (Glenn) Reckner, Boswell, and Dorothy Boyer, Stoystown. He attended Shanksville Stonycreek High School and was a World War II Navy Veteran. Former Salesman at Shanksville Auto Company from 1954 to 1968, and retired from Consol Coal Co. Member of Jenner Rod and Gun Club and UMWA. He was an avid trout fisherman, hunter, NASCAR fan, Mopar enthusiast, and antique car buff. He enjoyed many Canadian fishing trips throughout his life. Family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Douglas Knupp officiating.
