Obituary

Arlene A. Swartzwelder, 91, of Stoystown, died Feb. 28, 2023 at home. Born Sept. 2, 1931 in Maple Hill, KS, daughter of Alvin F. and Winifred M. (Whitney) Woodman. Preceded in death by parents; husband John; grandson Aaron R. Casper; brothers: Glenn A., Dale H., and Cecil W. Woodman; and sisters: Marjorie C. Hutchinson and Mary E. Kasl. Survived by children: Valerie J. Casper, Stoystown, John F. (Sandy) Swartzwelder, Schellsburg, and Janna J. Hearn, Fairhope, AL; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister Norma J. Nickerson, Olathe, KS. She was a homemaker, garment worker, and secretary. She lived in lower Alabama for 30+ years and returned in 2022 to the home purchased in 1959. She loved her family, road trips, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved her cat “Pearl.” Go CHIEFS!
