Barbara Jean Tokar-Koontz, 82, Somerset, was called home to Heaven July 16, 2024 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her family. Born April 11, 1942 in Somerset, daughter of William Wesley Holsopple and Margaret Sydney (Shaffer) Spangler. Preceded in death by parents, step father Clyde “Piney” Spangler, and first husband Barry V. Tokar. Survived by her husband of 33 years, Ray Koontz; children: Carla (Doug) Fanale, Bradley (Carol) Tokar, and Vicki (Dale) Matieszyn; grandchildren: Cory (Heather) Fanale, Katie (Mark Altman) Leslie, Brandi King, and Jeff Foy, Jr; step grandchildren: Christal (Jamey) Swank, Dale “Eddie” Matieszyn, and Kayla Brown and fiancé Patrick Hunt; great grandchildren: Emma, Ava, and Evan Fanale, and Madison King; step great granddaughter Aryanna Brown; sisters: Ann Barnes and Judy Rice; and several nieces and nephews. She was a 1960 graduate of Forbes High School. She retired as first deputy to the Register of Wills. She enjoyed traveling, road trips, and spending time with her family.
