Ben M. Scheller

Ben M. Scheller, 82, Berlin, died January 6, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born May 25, 1938 in Meyersdale, son of John “Lindy” and Marian (Landis) Scheller. Preceded in death by parents and step father Paul L. Klose, M.D. Survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Barbara Smith; daughters Christine (Robert) Glessner and Suzanne McCormick; grandchildren: Jody (Jacob) Smith, Jennifer (Jonathan) Dickey, Matthew (Rebecca) Glessner, Tessa McCormick and friend Matt, and Jared McCormick and friend Jessica; numerous great grandchildren; brother Stanley Scheller; and nieces Melissa Arnold and Wendy Trent. He was a graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He received his Master’s degree from Frostburg University. He was a retired teacher from the Meyersdale School District and was a PIAA basketball referee for many years. Member of Berlin Brethren Church, Berlin Brothersvalley School Board, and the Stonycreek Lake Board of Directors. Ben was an avid fan of Berlin sports. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. There will be no viewing or service at Ben’s request. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin.
