Benedict Joseph Straka Sr., 78, Berlin, died July 21, 2020 at UPMC Somerset. Born March 19, 1942 in Jenners, son of John and Anna (Mriglud) Straka. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Mary Miller, daughters: Beverley and Brenda Straka, and brother Joseph. Survived by children: Benedict (Wendy) Straka Jr., Crossville, TN, and Barbara Gardner and special friend Paul Stump, Stephens City, VA; grandchildren: Beth Anne (Brandon) Herman, Jacob Harrison Gardner, and Bradley James Straka; brothers: John (Shirley) Straka and David (Stella) Straka; sisters: Anna Carosi and Louise Lintz; and first wife Ella Jean Straka. He was a 1960 graduate of Jenner Boswell Joint High School and was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam War Veteran. He was an Underground Mine Electrical Inspector for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Member of Jenner Rod and Gun Club and Berlin Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed collecting and shooting guns, going to flea markets, his dogs, and spending time with his family. A private viewing and service will be held. The service will be live streamed on the Deaner Funeral Home Facebook Page at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Kurtis Frampton officiating. Interment Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
