Betty Bernell (Rogers) Martin

Betty “Bernell” (Rogers) Martin, 88, Friedens, died Sept. 14, 2021 at UPMC Somerset Hospital. Born March 31, 1933 in Johnstown, daughter of Paul R. and Mattie D. (Gates) Rogers. Preceded in death by parents; brother George Felix; sisters: Lee Cramer, Ruby Nesmith, Jane (Ed) Brokloff, and Dutchie Selders; and also her loving niece, Sharon Gretok. Survived by son, Paul (Patti) Martin, daughters: Delana (Bud) Pritts, Karen (Gary) Sleppy, and Kim (Harry) Landis; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Jeff) Knepper,  Jessica (Johnny) Davis, Kristen Pritts, Katie (Dan) Snyder, Lisa (John) Gnesda, Josh (Tanisha) Landis, Jake (Jessica) Landis, and Amanda Ludlum; 13 great grandchildren:  Douglas, Nathan, Samantha, Alex, Wade, Olivia, Daniel, Sophia, Jada, Scarlett, Kaylei, Abigail, and Malcolm. Bernell was a loving mom, grandma, and great grandma who enjoyed her weekly visits with family.  The highlight of her week was family coming on Sunday afternoons to play a few of her favorite games.  She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays with the family, as it was a time everyone came together.  She was a faithful member of the Friedens Lutheran Church and longtime member of their choir which she so much enjoyed. She will forever be remembered for her baking (especially her pies), sharing recipes with family, and her need to always be dressed up when she left the house.  Her smile and love of life will always be missed by her family and friends. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Friedens Lutheran Church where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. John Barichivich officiating.
