Caroline Elizabeth (Bell) St. Clair

Caroline Elizabeth St. Clair, 91, recently of The Patriot, Somerset, formerly of Ankeny, died July 2, 2018 at Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Born Jan 26, 1927 in Somerset, daughter of James A. and Elsie S. (Hoffman) Bell. Preceded in death by parents, husband Merle E. St. Clair on June 18, 1966, sisters: Anna Monaghan and Edna Mae Schrock, and brothers: Ralph and Roy Bell. Survived by four children: Carol Dee married to Larry Stern, Berlin, Frederick Charles St. Clair married to the former Peggy Smith, Green River, WY, Della Ann married to David Resh, Sipesville, and Mary Ellen married to Thomas Schoenecker, Somerset; grandchildren: Carlee Ann Resh and boyfriend Brandon Ditzler, Ashlee Jane married to Dustin Rice, and Carol Elizabeth and Rebekah Merle Schoenecker; great grandchildren: Jake, Kylee, Hayven, and Gage Rice; sister Janet Lisbon, Boswell; brother Harold Bell, Seattle, WA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was a graduate of Somerset High School and Cambria Rowe Business College, and a WAC during the Korean War. Former employee of Fetterolf Coal and Attorney William Kimmel. Grammy was a strong, amazing, intelligent lady who raised her four children, worked full time, kept a home, and made a wonderful life for her family and the neighborhood. Her homemade donuts and wings were legendary. She loved to travel with friends and family, and felt so blessed by her children and doubly so by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, but joyfully remembered and celebrated. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Rev. Dr. Joseph Beer officiating.
