Colleen F. (Rhodes) Maust, 88, of Berlin, fought the good fight and finished the race on October 15, 2022. She was greeted by and is now with family and friends who went before her including parents Elmer and Beatrice (Barclay) Rhodes, brother Elmer Jr. (Shelby), an infant brother, and infant grandchildren: Michael, Trisha, and Terri. Colleen leaves behind her husband of 66 years Charles E. Maust. She was a devoted mother of 5, three sons: Neil (Dorothy) Maust, Charles F. (Jackie) Maust, and John (Dory-deceased) Maust; and daughters: Lynn Maust and Lorrie (Scott) Shaw. She will also be missed by her sister Greta (John) Bocsy, brother Charles E. Rhodes, sisters-in-law: Sara Maust and Emily Fritz, her friend Marcia Maust, and special friend Angie Coddington. Colleen enjoyed being grandma to 7 grandchildren: Adam (Heather) and Matt Maust, Jason (Ginger), Carrie (Craig) and Courtney Custer, and Paula and Amanda Maust. She can claim the title of great grandma to 4 great grandchildren. After graduating from Somerset High School, Colleen worked for the Penelec Electric Company. When Colleen and Charlie married, she changed her profession to business partner and farm wife at Sugar Bottom Farm in Brothersvalley Twp. After selling the dairy cattle and her role of raising children was done, Colleen became business owner/partner with her adult children in Main Street Hardware and Maust Rentals in Berlin. She also worked as a relief rural mail carrier for the Berlin Post Office, was an accomplished seamstress, and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She was involved in various community organizations and activities including Pius Springs Woman’s Club, Berlin Area Business Association, 4-H Leader, and a member of the Legion Auxiliary. She participated in the Berlin Whiskey Rebellion Celebration as a demonstrator of cane seat weaving that her mother (Beatrice) had taught while she was home. Colleen and Charlie are Honorary State FFA Members. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev.
