David Lavan Lohr

David Lavan Lohr, 90, of Friedens, passed January 14, 2021 at home. Born February 17, 1930 in Jenner Township, son of Richard F. and Elsie M. (Bowman) Lohr. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 51 years the former Evelyn Swope, daughter Cynthia Browning, grandson David Browning, and siblings: Sarah Shaffer, Nannie Cora Rhoads, Evelyn Friedline, Bessie Gray, Louis Lohr, and Lloyd Hilton Lohr. Survived by children: Gayle (Paul) Miller, Bonnie (Haldor) Miller, and Kelly (Kelly) Lohr; ten grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. David was a 1948 graduate of Jenner Boswell Joint High School. He was a hard-working Stonycreek Township farmer who served the agricultural community with custom combining and lime spreading. He loved his family and enjoyed hosting picnics at the family farm and pond. He was an avid hunter and trout stream fisherman. In his later years he grew beautiful lilies and irises, and the grandchildren loved raiding his strawberry patch. He was an active member of Unity United Church of Christ and a faithful disciple of Jesus who often witnessed about his vision of heaven after a combine rollover. Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Unity United Church of Christ, 2074 Huckleberry Hwy., Berlin. Masks and social distancing are required. A private family service will be live streamed at 3 p.m. on the Deaner Funeral Home Facebook Page. Rev. Jay Shaffer officiating. Interment Zion-Hoffman Lutheran Cemetery.
