Dennis J. Koontz, Sr. 85 of Stoystown died April 16, 2026 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born Dec. 2,1940 in Stoystown son of Wachter Joseph and Elizabeth Grace (Griffith) Koontz. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Clarabell Swope, grandson Dante’ Taylor, brothers: William, Lloyd, and Ronald Koontz. Survived by children: Dennis Jr. married to the former Amy Vought, Stoystown, Kimberly married to Ronald Kalina, Boswell, Tracey married to Michael Dill, Hooversville, and David J. married to the former Marcia Custer, Stoystown; grandchildren: Danielle (Greg) Beck, Chris (Kayla) Vought, Amy, Ronald, and Mitchell Kalina, Heather (Donald) Osborn, Haley McCleary (Luke Lueckert), Nicholas Dill (Kayla Kennerly), and Evan and Owen Koontz; great grandchildren: Bryce Kalina, Anthony and Willow Taylor, and Lexa and Mazie Vought; and sister Sarah Jane Barnett. He attended Forbes High School and was an Army veteran. Owner and operator of his own trucking business. Member of Hooversville Church of the Brethren and Stoystown American Legion Post 257. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Steeler football, taking drives, and spending time with his family. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Chuck Mahon officiating. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown.
