Donald Ray “Red” Landis, 96, Shanksville, died March 7, 2020 at Arbutus Park Manor, Johnstown. Born July 30, 1923 in Sipesville, son of George E. and Mildred E. (Brant) Landis. Preceded in death by parents, and brothers: Alfred Jay and Eugene B. “Jeff” Landis. Survived by his wife of 75 years the former Mary Louise Custer; daughters: Kathie married to Terry Shaffer, and Donna married to Karl Glessner, all of Shanksville; grandchildren: Adam (Kate) Shaffer, Rebecca (Shawn) Kuzar, Benjamin (Kara) Shaffer, Carrie (Will) Young, and Jacob (Stephanie) Glessner; and great grandchildren: Aiden, Elizabeth, and Ian Shaffer, Alex Kuzar, Neoma Young, and Rosalie Glessner. He was a 1941 graduate of Shanksville-Stonycreek High School and a World War II and Korean War Army Veteran. Retired manager, then owner of Shanksville Builders Supply. He was a member of Shanksville United Methodist Church, where he was a longtime Trustee and Sunday School Superintendent. Life member of Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Treasurer for 46 years. Member of Stonycreek Valley American Legion Post 911 and longtime Secretary of Walker Cemetery Association Board. He was a Flight 93 Volunteer Ambassador, an avid woodturner, and a demonstrator at Mountain Craft Days for over 30 years. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shanksville United Methodist Church. Rev.
