Dorothy A. “Dottie” (Sheridan) Gilliland, 78, Somerset, died Sept. 6, 2021 at The Patriot. Born Dec. 17, 1942 in Macon, GA, daughter of James Sr. and Dorothy (Robine) Sheridan. Preceded in death by parents and her husband of over 40 enjoyable years, George. Survived by brothers: Donald “Bear” Sheridan and James Sheridan Jr.; nieces and nephews: Owen, Hannah, Matthew, and Michael Sheridan, and their children; step son Robert (Marcy) Gilliland; step daughter Elizabeth Gilliland; and dearest friend and neighbor Joyce Moore. She was a graduate of Lilly-Washington High School and Mount Aloysius College. Dottie retired from the lab at Somerset Hospital. Member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Somerset. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, knitting, antiquing, reading, hiking, pets and her neighborhood wine happy hour. She was known for her warm smile, sense of humor and compassionate nature. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Somerset. Pastor Michael Dunlap officiating. Inurnment Somerset Co. Memorial Park.
