Dr. James Allen Rodger, 73, Hooversville, died January 8, 2026 at home. Born September 16, 1952 in Somerset, son of the late James N. and Lois Theora (Bloom) Rodger. Survived by his sister Jacqueline A. (Denny) Shriner; nephew Eric (Michelle) Shriner; niece Ann (James) Conroy; great nieces and nephew: Lily Shriner, and Delainey and Maddox Conroy; aunts: Marie Bloom, Anna Susan Fyock, and Sally Rodger; special uncle Jan (Angela) Rodger; dear friend Crystal Herdman; former wife Kieko Rodger; special friends Blake and Stephen; and numerous cousins. He was a 1970 graduate of Forbes High School. James received his B.S. from UPJ, received his M.S. degree, and then received his Doctorate in M.I.S. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, IL in 1977. He was a former professor at several Pennsylvania universities, and also taught overseas in India and China. He was published in several journals and in three books. James enjoyed traveling, hunting, reading, movies, and discussing current events. Family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Deaner Cremation Center, 976 Barn St., Hooversville, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Gerald Myers officiating.
