Edward Lawrence “Birdie” Berkey, Jr., 71, Hooversville, died July 21, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Oct. 19, 1946 in Pittsburgh, son of Edward L., Sr., and Alice E. (Rininger) Berkey. Preceded in death by parents, and first wife the former Linda D. Geary. Survived by his wife the former Carol A. Kaltenbaugh; children: Jill Ann married to Jesse Boncoski, Hooversville, and Todd married to the former Jody Strait, Hollsopple; grandchildren: Preston Edward and Linda Fay Boncoski; step children: Lisa Caola and Helen Edwards, Melissa and David Brant, and Joseph and Tonia Caola; step grandchildren: Addison, Ella, Noah, Isabella, Joel, Miles, and Selene; and sister Beverly married to John Coy, New Vienna, OH. He was a graduate of Forbes High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Retired founder and owner of Berkey Auto, Hooversville, established in 1969. Member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. He loved car shows and anything to do with cars. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
