Emma Gene (Sweitzer) Engle

Emma Gene Engle, 88, Meyersdale, went to be with the Heavenly father on Oct. 9, 2021 surrounded by the love of her family at Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Born Dec. 13, 1932 in Meyersdale, daughter of Earl and Ada (Baker) Sweitzer. Preceded in death by parents, husband Jack A. Engle, brother-in-law Clark Darr, and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Kay Sweitzer. Survived by her son Jerry (Mary) Engle; grandchildren Bryan (Emily) Engle and Brooke (Matthew) Bittner; great grandchildren Jack and Jace Engle; and sister Eleanor Darr. She was a 1951 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. She was retired from ASCS and was also a retired Brothersvalley Twp. Tax Collector. Member of Mt. Zion (Hay’s) UCC, Hillcrest Grange, Berlin Brothersvalley Fair Assoc., and Berlin Community Grove. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, cooking/baking, bowling, knitting, her cats, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love and service to her community. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hay’s Mt.
