Emmett Wilbur "Yogi" Barron

Emmett Wilbur “Yogi” Barron, 83, Friedens, died April 5, 2021 at home. Born Dec. 18, 1937 in Friedens, son of Ira and Elsie (Yoder) Barron. Preceded in death by parents; son Craig; brothers: Richard, Samuel, and Ray Barron; and sisters: Luella Ringer, Peggy Mangus, and Judy Tallentire. Survived by his wife of 60 years the former Shirley Brant; son Chad and fiancée Belinda Gross and family, John Stiffey; grandchildren: Brent Barron and fiancée Cambria Wierman, and Rose, Travis, and Chris Barron; daughter-in-law Debra Barron; sisters: Connie Bowers and Donna Pyle; brother-in-law C. Herbert Harmon; and several nieces and nephews. He was a 1955 graduate of Somerset High School, where he excelled at basketball. Formerly employed by Briggs and CVS Distribution Center. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church, New Baltimore Sportsmen’s Club, Somerset Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Stoystown American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, all sports, and mowing his lawn to perfection. There will be no viewing or service at his request. Arrangements entrusted to Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown.
