Floyd Lowell Cassidy

Floyd Lowell Cassidy, 91, Davidsville, formerly of Stoystown, died June 26, 2023 at Laurel View Village. Born September 12, 1931 in Stoystown, son of Robert Milton and Sadie Margaret (Zimmerman) Cassady. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former JoAnn Hoover, son Scott, sister Alice Witt, and brother William Cassady. Survived by children: Marci married to Tom Cosens, Brandi married to Mark Darr, Beth married to Mark Mueller, Kelly married to Scott Vanek, and Amy married to Angelo Donia; daughter-in-law Anne Cassidy; Grandchildren: Brian (Liz) Cosens, Olivia (Josh) Weakland, Brandon (Tiffany) Cassidy, Sarah (Nolan IV) Chauvin, Gabriel Williams, JoAnna (Phil) Porco, John and Joy Mueller, Caitlin (Paul) Reiser, Allison (Steve) Resseguie, and Jillian Donia; 12 great grandchildren; and brother Robert (Delores) Cassidy. He was a 1949 graduate of Shade High School and was a Korean War Army Veteran. He was a 1953 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Engineering. He was a retired engineer from several Pittsburgh area businesses. Member of the former Grace Lutheran Church, Stoystown, Robert P. Hite Post 257 American Legion, the Hooversville, Stoyestown, and Somerset Historical Societies. Former volunteer at Boswell Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, and PALS. There will be a private graveside service at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Friedens Lutheran Church. Rev. John Barichivich and Floyd’s son-in-law Mark Mueller officiating. Military Rites at the church by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
