George M. Turner Sr.

George M. Turner, Sr., 81, of Windber, went to be with the Lord Dec. 7, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Aug. 11, 1941 in Hooversville son of Walter G. and Martha (Cottle) Turner. Preceded in death by parents, infant daughter Christine, brother Walter N. Turner, and father-in-law Ivan P. Ankeny. Survived by his wife of 46 years the former Karen Ankeny; children: Dianne Turner, Tracey Turner, Misty married to Mike Shima, George M. Turner Jr. married to the former Veronica Logsdon, and Evan Turner and partner Geovani Romero; grandchildren: Nick and Peyton Shima, and Ivan and Luchia Turner; brothers: David (Lois) Turner and Emerson (Darlene) Turner; and mother-in-law Pauline Ankeny. George attended Forbes High School and is a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a former truck driver, coal superintendent, and security guard. Attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, yard work, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor H. Don Rough officiating.
