Gladys L. Grenke, 102, of Berlin, formerly of Fairhope, died Apr. 25, 2020 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born Jan. 7, 1918 in Pittsburgh, daughter of Homer and Ethel (Egolf) Coughenour. Preceded in death by parents, husband Herman, sisters: Verna and Emma Jean Coughenour, Helen Spangler, and Elma Felton; and brothers: Melvin “Bud” and Kenneth Coughenour. Survived by children: Evelyn Jean Fogle, Berlin, Carl married to the former Virginia Ratcliff, Woodbridge, VA, Nancy married to Charles Duke, Bedford, Martin married to the former Sandra Webreck, and Roger married to the former Dianna Beattie, both of Fairhope; grandchildren: Timothy (Kathy), Darcy, Rick (Chris), and Michael (Jeanne) Fogle, Matthew (Brenda) and John Grenke, Robin (Kevin) Stayer, Stacey (Scott) Wakeman, Chris (Rene) Grenke, Dawnyel (Scott) Henderson, Heather (Matthew) Foor, Shawn and Todd Grenke, and Courtney (Rick) Kazmer; 19 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters: Wayne (Yvonne) Coughenour, Meyersdale, Maude Kimmel, York, Mary Lehman, Frederick, MD, and Sam (Margie) Coughenour, Berlin. She worked with her husband on the family farm. Member of Mt Olive Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, and Farm Women. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, making rugs, reading her Bible, and she loved her grandchildren. Due to the current health concerns, a private viewing and service will be held. The Funeral Service will be broadcast live on Deaner Funeral Home’s Facebook Page Wednesday at 11 a.m. Rev. Sam Coughenour officiating. Interment Somerset Co. Memorial Park.
