Harold E. Hay, 82, Garrett, died March 12, 2021 at his daughter Cathy’s home. Born June 24, 1938 in Brothersvalley Twp., son of John Engle and Minnie Pearl (Ash) Hay. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 63 years, the former Betty Fike, and sister Dorothy Hay Watkins. Survived by children: Cathy (Doug) Custer, Sharon (Kevin) Fochtman, and Keith Hay and special friend Elly McKenzie; grandchildren: Jody (Steven) Berkey, Angela (Nathan) Miller, Kyle (Christie) Fochtman, Keisha (Ben) Hay, and Geordan, Cannon, and Carlyn Hay; great grandchildren: Carter, Elijah, Amyah, Maelyn, Mason, Cameron, and Brody; and sisters Ruth Brant and Sandra (William) Thompson. He was a 1956 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. He worked as an artificial inseminator for Atlantic Breeders, was a long-time dairy farmer, was a laborer at Hemminger Homes, and most recently was a driver for the Amish community. Member of Joyful Church, where he held several church positions, Director of Milk Marketing, Inc., Berlin Young Farmers, Valley Grange, past President of the Berlin Community Grove Assoc., and former member of Beachdale Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed family activities and proudly observed his grandchildren’s academic and athletic achievements. He cherished his friendships in the Amish community and was proud to drive for them for 18 years. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Monday at Joyful Church, 2425 Garrett Shortcut Rd., Garret, PA 15542. The service will be live streamed on the Deaner Funeral Home Facebook page.
