Helen Kristine Pastuch, age 95 years spry, of Boswell, passed quietly at home Sunday, October 11, in the presence of family, immediately following the closing hymn of mass/rosary. Helen was born September 25, 1925, daughter of Stanley and Helen (Stravinsky) Baraniak. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; former husband Michael Pastuch; son Gerald; brothers: Peter, Albert, Frank, and Stanley Baraniak; and sisters: Anna Slizewski and Dorothy Sokolsky. She is survived by her sister Pauline Kerch; sister-in-law Vicky Baraniak; sons: Michael (Cindy Eller), Dennis (Jayne Shaffer), and Joseph Pastuch; daughters: Rosanna Weil and Kathleen (Kirk) Smith; grandchildren: Carrie, Shawna, Cristina, Jason, Joshua, Jared, Stefanie, Aaron, Jonathan, Miranda, and Sheena Pastuch, Gina, David, Jeremy, and Christopher Bailey, and Alyssa and Tyler Smith; fifteen great grandchildren of ages 24 years to 3 weeks; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. After high school graduation, Helen moved to Baltimore and worked as a tack welder in the shipyards during WWII. Upon return to Boswell, Helen was a member of the ILGWU while working for Dorfman and Hoffman Clothing Factory. Helen was proud of her heritage, and very active in her Polish community including her service to St Stanislaus/ All Saints Church and Choir. She enjoyed making quilts to be sent to foreign missions as a member of Knotty Ladies. She enjoyed sewing, singing, dancing the polka, gardening, berry picking and jelly making, baking bread and pies, and cooking traditional Polish meals. You could never visit without having something to eat and taking a plate home. Helen had a quick wit and sharp sense of humor and was loved by everyone she met. She will be greatly missed. There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Parish, Boswell. All are welcome. Rev. Aron Maghsoudi celebrant.
