Helen Jean (Hummel) Stoddard

Helen “Jean” (Hummel) Stoddard, 83, Somerset formerly of Berlin, died May 15, 2023. Born November 28, 1939 in Goodtown, daughter of George and Ann (Mohilchock) Hummel. Preceded in death by parents, husband of 40 years John P. “Buddy”, brothers George and John Hummel, sisters Rose Ann (James) Ludy, and Patricia Joyce Scheller, sisters-in-law Ruth (Bill) Wilson, Linda Sue (Wally) Long, and Mary (Lawrence) Sarver, and infant grandson Jesse. Survived by daughter Laura (Brett) Brant; son David Stoddard; grandchildren: Joel and Patience Stoddard; Brandon (Cathy) Brant, and Kendra (Eric) Brant-Chun; great grandchildren: Brayden, Finley, Reyna, Rayce, and Harmony; sisters: Nancy (William) Walker and Linda (Donald) Fetterolf; sister-in-law Geneva McVicker; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. Member of Berlin Brethren Church where she was a former choir member and former member of the Women’s Missionary Society, and was a former member of the Laurel Highland Chorale. She loved singing, painting, and spending time with her friends and family. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 9:30 a.m. until service at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Berlin Brethren Church. Pastor Tom Sprowls officiating. Interment Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
