James Luther Burcaw, 84, Berlin, died Feb. 1, 2020. at Meyersdale Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born Dec. 20, 1935 in Shenandoah, VA, son of Charles E. and Alleene (Brown) Burcaw. Preceded in death by parents, first wife Christine Burcaw, and brothers Stewart and Lowell. Survived by his wife of 11 years, the former Carol (Platt) Dickey, stepchildren Tracy Dickey and Lori (Lynn) Hoppert, both of Berlin, step grandchildren Landon Hoppert and fiancée Sarah Walker and Lance (Megan) Hoppert, step great grandchildren L.J. and Elliott Hoppert, brother Charles Burcaw, Baltimore, MD, nephew David Burcaw, Cumberland, MD, and nieces Debbie (Rich) Jefts, Cumberland, MD, Lisa (Bill) McGlauglin, Roanoke, VA, and Mary (Chris) Jenson, Indianapolis, IN. He was a US Army veteran and was retired from PPG. Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin. He was a ham radio operator, enjoyed line dancing, and traveling on bus trips. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 23rd at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Gary Jensen officiating. Military rites provided by the Berlin Veterans Home.
