James Nathaniel Rodger, 94, of Hooversville, died June 18, 2024 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Feb. 15, 1930 in Hooversville, son of Maurice and Catherine (Shontofski) Rodger. Preceded in death by parents and brothers: Robert and Edward Rodger. Survived by his wife of 73 years the former Lois T. Bloom; children: James A. Rodger and Jacqueline A. (Dennis) Shriner; grandchildren: Eric (Michelle) Shriner and Ann (James) Conroy; great grandchildren: Lily Shriner, and Delainey and Maddox Conroy; sisters: Anna Susan Fyock and Sally Ann Rodger; brother Jan (Angela) Rodger; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a 1947 graduate of Hooversville High School and a Korean War Corporal in the U.S. Army. James was a retired rural mail carrier for Hooversville with over 42 years of service. Member of the former Trinity Lutheran Church, Hooversville, and Hooversville V.F.W. He enjoyed history, especially the Civil War, gardening, reading, crosswords, Jeopardy, and spending time with his family. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Cremation Center, 976 Barn St., Hooversville, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Gerald Myers officiating.
