James Torrence Obituary

James Albert Torrence, 84, Stoystown, died December 21, 2020 at home. Born October 16, 1936 in Dawson, son of Rayburn and Catherine (Silbaugh) Torrence. Preceded in death by parents and grandson Joshua Torrence. Survived by his wife of 26 years, the former Jean Wirbick; children: Tanya (Jeffrey) Porter, Jim (Karen) Torrence, Randy (Geraldine) Torrence, Eric (Sara) Torrence, Erin (John) Kitzmiller, Brian Torrence and fiancée Annamaria Kastal, and Tuter Alumbaugh; 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson; brothers: Ray, Wilford (Barbara), and Bobby (Arlene) Torrence; and special aunt Lazetta Sidwell. He was a graduate of Perryopolis High School and was a retired employee of County Market, Somerset. Member of Kantner United Methodist Church, Stoystown Lions Club where he was a past president, and Master of Wills Grange, Somerset. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening, Facebooking, and spending time with his family. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
