Janet Louise (Wilhelm) Bender

Janet Louise Bender, 91, of Berlin, died Sept. 3, 2022 at The Patriot. Born Dec. 31, 1930 in Brothersvalley Twp., daughter of John Lester and Mary Ella (Hay) Wilhelm. Preceded in death by parents, husband John R. Bender, son James, and brother John L. Wilhelm. Survived by children: Joyce married to David Meese, Berlin, Jackie married to Rich Lotinsky, Berlin, and Jane married to Rob Hondal, Burlington, VT; grandchildren: Greta (Mike) Durst, Benjamin (Debbie) Meese, Ella (Scott) Meese, Michael (Gul) Bowman, Katie Bowman, Mary and Julia Hondal, and Craig and Steven Lotinsky; great grandchildren: Xander Meese, Braden and Carter Durst, and Thayer and Yara Bowman. First and foremost Janet loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was so very proud of all their accomplishments. Member of Berlin Brothersvalley High School Class of 1948, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and Berlin Area Historical Society. A special thanks for the compassionate care she received at UPMC Somerset and Altoona, the Patriot, but most of all, her caregivers Nancy Frantz and Denise Sanner, and all of the volunteers that visited from Meals on Wheels. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Robert Keplinger officiating. Interment Berlin I.O.O.F.
