John Clark Hayes, 77, Berlin, died October 30, 2023 at UPMC Somerset. Born December 10, 1945 in Bainbridge, NY, son of the late Maurice and Ruth (Hager) Hayes. Survived by his wife of 17 years, the former Karen White; daughters: Erin (Bill) Timmis, Meggan (Caleb) Massengill, and Tegan (Jessica Brown) Veres; grandchildren: Logan (Maryscott) Timmis, Lindsay (fiancé Noah Hay) Timmis, Kelly Rose Lueth, Henley and Cecelia Massengill, and Abigail Veres; sisters Janet (Richard) Page and Betty (Mark) Sejersen; brother Robert (Maura) Hayes; and several (well loved) nieces and nephews. He was a 1964 graduate of Bainbridge Central High School and a 1966 graduate of SUNY. He was formerly the head of quality control for Snyder of Berlin and then was in the quality assurance dept. at 84 Lumber in Washington. Member of Laurel Ridge Sportsmen’s Club and Somerset County Horseshoe League. Former member and president of NWTF, Somerset Chapter and former president of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Somerset chapter. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.
