John F. Long, 86, of Berlin, died July 11, 2025 at UPMC Altoona. Born Oct. 21, 1938 in Stonycreek Twp., son of the late John W. and Lillian (Landis) Long. Survived by his wife of 66 years the former Eloise Gill; son David married to the former Susan Mostoller; daughter Deb married to Doug Lehman; grandchildren: Krista Long and fiancé Drew Matthews, Jennifer (Brad) Retassie, Ilicia Long and fiancée Jenna Gailey, Erin (Jason) Campbell, Lauren (Sam) Rhoades, Katlin (Dan) Rodriguez, and Brian (Selina) Critchfield; great grandchildren: Phoenix, Journey, Lillian, Elenora, Elijah, Julia, JoAnna, Chase, Levi, Ava, Ethan, and Riley; great great granddaughter Emersyn; sister Shirley Cunningham and late husband Richard; niece Kathy Leer; and nephew John Beachley. He was a 1956 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and the owner/operator of Longs Carpet and Contracting. Member of Berlin Brethren Church, where he was a deacon for many years, Berlin Lions Club, Berlin Historical Society, where he was instrumental in building the log home (Humble House), Berlin Vol. Fire Dept., and a past Berlin Borough Council President. John enjoyed working, lending a helping hand, woodworking, hunting, fishing, shuffleboard, and most importantly spending time with his family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 9 a.m. until a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Berlin Brethren Church. Rev.
