John William McMahon, Sr.

John William McMahon, Sr., 68, Somerset, died Jan. 3, 2022 at home. Born Jan. 1, 1954 in Johnstown, son of John G. and Marian E. (Elliott) McMahon. Preceded in death by parents and sisters Debbie McMahon and Mary West Pebley. Survived by his wife of 49 years the former Diane Layton; children: Sherry married to Westley Berkebile, John Jr. married to the former Kelly Taylor, and Diane “Dee” married to Reggie Musser; grandchildren: Joseph Berkebile, Kayla (Erik) Bloom, Taylor and Carson McMahon, and Hunter, Christian, William and McKinley Musser; brother Del (Marian) McMahon; and best dog friend Cuddles. He attended Westmont Hilltop High School. He was the parts manager at Woy Brothers. Member of Jenner Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed golfing, auto racing, and camping. Special thank you to hospice nurses Deb Barron and Barb Veto. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Mike Dunlap officiating.
